DELEGATES TO THE 35TH UAW CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION (JUNE 14-17, 2010 DETROIT, MICHIGAN) NOMINATIONS

In order to be eligible to serve as a delegate to a UAW Constitutional Convention, a member must have been in continuous good standing in the International Union for twelve (12) months immediately preceding the first (1st) day of the month in which the convention is held and shall have been a member of his or her local union for three (3) months immediately preceding the first (1st) day of the month in which the convention is held. All delegates are nominated and elected by the Local Union membership. All eligible members are automatically nominated for the following positions:

EXECUTIVE BOARD NOMINATIONS

All Executive Board officers are nominated and elected by the Local Union membership. All Executive Board officers are, by virtue of their office, members of the Joint Council and the Bargaining Team. All UAW Local 4123 members who have been in continuous good standing for one (1) year prior to accepting nomination are automatically nominated for the following Executive Board offices for terms ending in May 2013:

President, Financial Secretary, Vice President District I, Vice President District II, Vice President District III, Vice President District IV, Recording Secretary, Sergeant-at-Arms, Guide, and Three (3) Trustees.

STEWARD NOMINATIONS
All UAW Local 4123 members who have been in continuous good standing for ninety (90) days prior to accepting nomination are automatically for Steward for terms ending in May 2013. All Stewards are nominated and elected by the campus membership. Each campus has the following number of Steward positions:

NOMINATION PROCEDURES

Members may accept nomination for no more than one Convention Delegate and/or no more than one Executive Board, Head Steward, or Steward position. Each member who wishes to accept nomination must indicate this intention in writing by mailing, delivering, faxing, or e-mailing an acceptance of nomination for the specified position(s) to:

Written acceptance must be received at the Sacramento office (above) no later than Friday, April 23, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. The written statement of acceptance should state how the nominee wishes her/his name to appear on the ballot. Also see the section on candidate statements below.

CANDIDATE STATEMENTS

Members accepting nomination may also submit a candidate statement (up to 500 words) by the nomination deadline of 5 p.m. on April 23, 2010 to UAW Local 4123 Elections Committee at the above address. The statement will be posted on the UAW Local 4123 web site (http://www.uaw4123.org) and at the Union's offices no later than Monday April 26th, 2010 and will be available at polling sites during the election.

In addition, a member may nominate another member for a position specified above. If a member chooses to nominate another member, s/he must notify UAW Local 4123 of the nomination in writing within the first five (5) days of the nominating period by mailing, delivering, faxing or e-mailing the nomination UAW Local 4123 at the above address. The nominator is required to notify the member s/he nominated for the specific office, so that the nominee will be aware of the nomination and of her/his obligation to follow the nomination procedure as described above. If a member is nominated and the nominator fails to notify the nominee, such failure will not invalidate or excuse the member's responsibility to accept such
nomination within the established acceptance deadline of 5pm on April 23, 2010.

All members in good standing at the time of the election are eligible to vote at their campus. Membership may be obtained at the polling sites. Members will be asked to present a form of photo ID at the polls. Those who join at the polls must show proof of membership eligibility (campus graduate student status or campus bargaining unit employment status). The election will be by secret ballot. Write-in candidates are not permitted. Voting must be in person. There will be no absentee ballots. If any position is uncontested, the candidate shall be considered elected and no election for that position will be held. All candidates for Executive Board and Head Steward positions must be elected by a majority of valid ballots cast for that position; all candidates for Convention Delegate and Steward positions must be elected by plurality of valid ballots cast for that position.
