Dear Members, Your union is holding its Fall 2022 Vacancy Election to fill Executive Board, Joint Council and Steward positions. The nomination period starts today and ends on October 18th, 2022, at 5PM PT. The election will take place from November 1st through November 3rd, 2022. Please read on for information about the election and instructions on how to accept the nomination if you are interested in running for one of these positions. EXECUTIVE BOARD NOMINATIONS All UAW Local 4123 members in good standing for twelve (12) months prior to accepting nomination are automatically nominated for the following Executive Board offices for terms ending in May 2025: 2 Vice Presidents (District 2 and 3) nominated and elected by district membership: District 2 contains the following campuses and their satellites: Chico, Sacramento, Stanislaus, Fresno, Bakersfield, and Maritime Academy District 3 contains the following campuses and their satellites: Channel Islands, San Bernardino, Northridge, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Los Angeles, and Cal Poly Pomona. The following positions will be nominated and elected by the statewide membership: 1 Financial Secretary 1 Trustee 1 Sergeant-at-Arms 1 Guide HEAD STEWARD NOMINATIONS All UAW Local 4123 members who have been in continuous good standing for forty-five (45) days prior to accepting nomination are automatically nominated by their respective campus membership for the following Head Steward offices for terms ending in May 2025. Head Steward positions are elected by respective campus membership. There is 1 vacant Head Steward office at each of the following campuses:
STEWARD NOMINATIONS All UAW Local 4123 members who have been in continuous good standing for forty-five (45) days prior to accepting nomination are automatically nominated by their respective campus for the following Steward offices for terms ending in May 2025. All Steward offices are elected by their respective campus membership. The following list identifies the number of open Steward offices at each campus:
NOMINATION PROCEDURES FOR ALL VACANT POSITIONS Members may accept nomination for no more than one Executive Board or Head Steward position. Each member who wishes to accept nomination must indicate this intention in writing by e-mailing an acceptance of nomination for the specified position to: elections@uaw4213.org Written acceptance must be received at elections@uaw4123.org no later than October 18th, 2022 at 5PM PT. The written statement of acceptance should state how the nominee wishes their name to appear on the ballot. Furthermore, see the section on candidate statements below. CANDIDATE STATEMENTS Members accepting nomination may also submit a candidate statement (up to 500 words) by the nomination deadline of 5PM PT on October 18th, 2022 to UAW Local 4123 Election Committee at elections@uaw4123.org. The statement will be posted on the UAW Local 4123 website (http://www.uaw4123.org) and at the Union’s offices no later than October 24th, 2022. ELECTION DATES Voting will take place online November 1st through November 3rd, 2022 via online vote. A run-off election, if necessary, will be held December 3, 2022 via online vote.
