Our union has made consistent gains in each successor contract to improve the lives of each and every Academic Student Employee in the CSU system. Here are some of the significant gains we have made in JUST the last two years:
Pay raises for EVERY Academic Student Employee
Pay for all training and pedagogy courses required for employment
Pay for ISAs for no-show appointments
Pay for TAs for all approved hours worked in excess of time-base
Stronger protection against harassment and bullying on campuses
Protection for all immigrant and international students
We were able to make these gains because of a large and engaged membership. By joining your union, you are helping all of us bargain for better wages, benefits, and working conditions, and you are empowering us to enforce the rights in our Collective Bargaining Agreement. By being a member, your voice will be heard, and you can take part in the democratic functioning of the local union. Only members get to voice what rights we need to bargain for and vote on our next contract.
We're going into bargaining this summer! Every time we go into bargaining, ALL of our contract is on the line. We can win new rights, but we can also lose the rights we already have. Whether we're able to keep these rights depends entirely on our membership. It's up to you to join the fight to show the CSU that student workers deserve better and that we are going to stand our ground together.

Our initiation fee and dues are set by Article 16 of the UAW International Constitution. New members pay a one-time initiation fee of $10. Every member contributes a fixed-amount of dues every month, pre-tax out of their paycheck. Dues are only 1.44% of gross wages - this is $8.02 for ISAs, $12.96 for GAs, and $16.96 for TAs. If you hold multiple positions, you will only pay dues for the highest position. Members pay dues only during the time that they are employed in the bargaining unit.

This fund is dedicated strictly to presenting at orientations and recruiting new members.
UAW LOCAL 4123 GENERAL FUND
This fund goes toward operating costs of the union.
UAW INTERNATIONAL SECRETARY-TREASURER
This fund goes toward audits, bookkeeping, legal compliance, and other financials.
UAW INTERNATIONAL STRIKE & DEFENSE FUND
This fund ensures our ability to go on strike if the CBA expires before we come to a tentative agreement with the CSU.
UAW INTERNATIONAL GENERAL FUND
This fund provides us with a UAW International representative who guides and supports us in grievances, bargaining, and other operations.
