Your union is holding its Fall 2021 Vacancy Election to fill Executive Board, Joint Council, and Convention delegate positions.
The nomination period starts today and ends on November 5, 2021, at 5pm PT. The election will take place on November 19, 2021. Please read on for information about the election and instructions on how to accept the nomination if you are interested in running for one of these positions. EXECUTIVE BOARD NOMINATIONS
All UAW Local 4123 members in good standing for twelve (12) months prior to accepting nomination are automatically nominated for the following Executive Board offices for terms ending in May 2022:
3 Vice Presidents (District 2, 3, and 4) nominated by district:
District 2 contains the following campuses and their satellites: Chico, Sacramento, Stanislaus, Fresno, Bakersfield, and Maritime Academy
District 3 contains the following campuses and their satellites: Channel Islands, San Bernardino, Northridge, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Los Angeles, and Cal Poly Pomona.
District 4 contains the following campuses and their satellites: San Diego, San Marcos, Long Beach, Dominguez Hills, and Fullerton.

CONVENTION DELEGATES
This Fall Vacancy Election also includes three slots for Constitutional Convention Delegates. Delegates help draft and submit resolutions in winter 2022, which will then be brought to the Convention held in Detroit, Michigan in July 2022. Note that the election for UAW 4123 delegates who will actually attend the Convention will happen in May 2022, and all positions will be open at that time. Those elected during this vacancy election will primarily be responsible for researching and drafting potential resolutions.
Eligibility: To be eligible to run for a delegate position, you must have been a member of the UAW (the international union, of which our local is a part) for 12 months, and that membership must have been in our local, UAW 4123 for at least the last 3 months. In other words, if you were a member of another UAW Local for 9 months, and then UAW 4123 for 3 months, you would be eligible. All eligible UAW Local 4123 members are automatically nominated to run for a Delegate position.
NOMINATION PROCEDURES FOR ALL VACANT POSITIONS
Members may accept nomination for no more than one Executive Board or Head Steward position. Each member who wishes to accept nomination must indicate this intention in writing by e-mailing an acceptance of nomination for the specified position to: elections@uaw4213.org
Written acceptance must be received at elections@uaw4123.org no later than November 5, 2021 at 5:00 PM. The written statement of acceptance should state how the nominee wishes their name to appear on the ballot. Also, see the section on candidate statements below.
CANDIDATE STATEMENTS
Members accepting nomination may also submit a candidate statement (up to 500 words) by the nomination deadline of 5 p.m. on November 5, 2021 to UAW Local 4123 Election Committee at elections@uaw4123.org. The statement will be posted on the UAW Local 4123 website (http://www.uaw4123.org) and at the Union’s offices no later than November 8, 2021.
ELECTION DATES
Voting will take place online November 19 via online vote.
A run-off election, if necessary, will be held December 3 via online vote.
